Preparation

Prepare the room/space so that it is as spacious as it can be, without obstacles.

Step by step description

1. Ask participants to create a circle.

2. Instruct them to reply to the question “How are you leaving ?”, but explain that they’ll have to represent their current feeling with one movement and one sound.

3. Explain that the sound and the movement can be small, big, usual or unusual, but invite them to get creative and try to really communicate how they feel at this moment through the sound and the movement.

4. Each participant takes a turn to express the movement and sound.

The activity finalises when all participants have shown and shared their movements and sounds.

Closing up

You can end the exercise by asking the participants:

● How are you feeling now?
● What did this exercise make you feel?

Comments / hints for facilitators

This is a very easy and short way to evaluate participants’ impressions and state after the session. It is possible for participants to be unsure of what to do, to repeat others’ sounds and movements, especially if you do the activity during the workshop’s first sessions. If you continue doing it over time, invite participants to get creative, try not to repeat each other’s sounds and movements and not to be afraid to improve and explore their voice and body through this activity.
