With Creation-POP project, we want to offer new ways of intergenerational and lifelong learning through creative arts. We wish to provide new, innovative ways of including older people in our activities. Through our activities we want to tackle ageism, to provide an environment for active aging, and to find ways on how to bridge intercultural, intergenerational and social divide through creativity, arts and culture.

“Aging is not “lost youth” but a new stage of opportunity and strength.”

Betty Friedan, writer

Across Europe, changing demographic trends have seen important increases in ageing populations. Globally, the share of the population aged 65 years or over is expected to increase from 9.3 per cent in 2020 to around 16.0 per cent in 2050. In Europe, older people are more and more facing ageism which refers to the stereotypes, prejudice and discrimination towards others or oneself based on age.

Ageism can negativly effect on ones civic engagement, social participation, can erode solidarity between generations, and can impact health, longevity and well-being while also having far-reaching economic consequences.
